Reverse Osmosis Systems for Desalination & Water Reuse

Wastewater Engineering Group supplies a wide range of Reverse Osmosis Systems for water and wastewater treatment.

Reverse osmosis is a process whereby the natural phenomenon of osmosis is reversed by applying pressure to the concentrated side of the semipermeable membrane. Reverse Osmosis Systems are widely used for sea water desalination as an alternative of distillation. Another important application of RO Systems is for brackish water purification for municipal and industrial water reuse.

Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Desalination Systems are designed and used for desalination (i.e. removal reduce salinity) and producing fresh potable water for drinking purpose and industrial usages. In SWRO Systems, high pressure pumps are used to force seawater to pass through a semi-permeable membrane, in the process water is purified but contaminants and disolved solids cannot go through and is rejected by the membrane. The purified product water is also called permeate; the reject stream is also known as concentrate or retentate.

Brackish Reverse Osmosis (BWRO) Systems brackish water (i.e. not so high in salinity) is treated in a similar way, just that driving pressure is not as high as applied in SWRO systems because the Osmotic pressure that need to be counteracted is much lower than that of the seawater.

Depending on capacities, sizes and applications, optimum array arrangement design for reverse osmosis systems are designed by us to suit the requirements of the customer. Wastewater Engineering Group also provides energy saving type Reverse Osmosis Systems and equipment for concerns of reducing customer's energy cost.

Our goal is to meet all requirements of our customers and we excel in doing so.

Reverse Osmosis Development

There are some

  • Osmotically Assisted Reverse Osmosis (OARO)
  • Counter Flow Reverse Osmosis (CFRO)
  • Close Circuite Reverse Osmosis (CCRO)
  • Reverse Direction Reverse Osmosis
  • Batch or Semi-batch Reverse Osmosis

All these work arounds or variations processes are targeting on different aspects around the Osmosis principle, and the RO membranes properties, or operation conditions to achieve different objectives.
